I have a Compaq 1200 presario, 64bit, and I use Gentoo. It's screaming fast, and if you want any software you just type "emerge software". The only downside is that it's hard to get started. The trick is not to panic during the installation, and follow the guide to a T. You'll learn a lot: enough to get you started. www.gentoo.org The second thing is that I read the Netbeans article, and thought, "Oh my god, this is me!" I'm 15, I started programming when I was about 7 (Integer basic, things like print Hello, what is your name etc), and just moved to Java this year. I'm also skipping a year in computer science, going straight to Advanced Placement Computer Science. Have you tried BlueJ? It's an educational compiler, but it's pretty cool. <BR/><BR/>P.S.
