News

Lately i have been very busy with school becuase it is the end of the year and exams and summatives are coming up...anyway after JavaOne there was lots of new in the Java world. You can check it at planetnetbeans.org and planetsun.org . I also jsut found that Ubuntu 6.06 dapper Release Candidate is out. I am just downloading it now...hopefully they have fixed some bugs (esspecialy the gstreamer error [I noticed it while using Flight 7]). I also found a newer linux distro called RR4 (or RR64 if you have a 64 bit pc) that comes with ATI propriatary drivers built in which in it's self makes this distro very apealing to me because my laptop has a ATI Radeon Express 200M. It is also built on Gentoo which is also very apealing. I am going to be trying it so i post what i think of it later on this week or next. You can check out RR4/RR64 at http://www.lxnaydesign.net/.

We're in opposite worlds though I guess...:P

Hey..
nice to see that you're still alive even after that load of work coming along with the end of the year.
RR4 distro is full of promesses I guess ( It sure seems to have a nice GUI) but lets see how will it behave during any developpement activity :P

Nice to hear from you Yuvi Panda. We are definitly in different worlds though... Java and .NET are kinda competitors (but i am not going to say which is better because it is person prefrence i guess....although i will have to try .NET sometime). Btw i like your blog... cheers :)

Hey laurent...i tried RR64 and i am still an ubuntu fan...the live cd installer for RR64 is a little anoying and not very userfriendly...it sentences that don't make any sense...So i am going to be downloading Ubuntu 6.06 dapper RC and putting it on my laptop...btw you can pre-order ubuntu cd's from thier site at ubuntu.com.

Well thanks for the little RR4 reviview... so I'll stick to my old debian distrib that I use for remote compiling.. and I sure already pre-ordered 10 copies of latest ubuntu CD..waiting for the mail :P

Oh and btw, I you ever plan to go to montreal this summer... beep me up :)

Yeah.. I guess I could call it a nice lazy sat. :) now i've got some JSP tagLig to finish before ,morrow at 1:00 pm :(

Well i just remember a nice feature that Eclipse has but not NB : generate getters/setters for the refactoring menu.. is thre any plans to add that nice feature ??

Collin said...

Hey laurent...there is this feature in NetBeans like the one you specified...although i don't know if i fully understand what you mean...check this site out:

Hey! Thanks for the tip.. but what I meant was : for example you have a private field declared as : private String str="Some str"; in as class then you want to access that str right? so you have to add two methods:
public String getStr(){return str;}
public void setStr(String s){str=s;}
This is ok to do it by hand if you have one field but imagine if you have ten fields ?!!
so with Eclipse you could generate these automatically (it uses reflexion API I think)

This was my point :)

I really fell like I'm gonna rush on my final JAVA exam :(

Bye!

Anyway cheers
